Can I install other operating systems on the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

Yes! While our TurnKey Mini PCs are designed to ship ready-to-use, you're welcome to install any compatible operating system that fits your needs.

If you prefer to set everything up yourself, just select the "No Operating System" option at checkout to receive a blank Mini PC.

Keep in mind: installing another OS may erase the Recovery partition. To return to factory settings, you’ll need to use our Pulcro Reimaging Tool.

TurnKey One: Up to 16GB RAM and one 1TB M.2 2280 NGFF SSD
TurnKey Two: Up to 32GB RAM and two 2TB M.2 2280 NGFF SSD
TurnKey QBE: Fixed 8GB LPDDR5 (non-upgradable), supports up to one 2TB M.2 2242 NGFF SSD

How energy-efficient is the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

The Mini PC consumes less than 1kWh per day, making it highly energy-efficient while delivering reliable performance. As a reference: if your electricity rate is at 15c per kWh, it will cost you up to 15c per day to operate.

Setup and Installation

Home Assistant just booted into a terminal – what do I do?

That’s completely normal! Home Assistant OS is designed to run headless - which means you don’t need a monitor or keyboard to use it.

Instead, you'll access the Home Assistant interface from another device on the same network (like your phone, tablet, or laptop).

Here’s how to get started: Note the IP address shown in the terminal screen. It will usually begin with: 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x or 172.16.x.x. You can ignore everything after / (slash).

On another device connected to the same network, open a web browser and type: http://YOUR_IP_ADDRESS:8123 For example: if your IP address is 192.168.10.20, you would type - http://192.168.10.20:8123

This will load the Home Assistant setup screen. From there, you can finish configuration and begin your Home Assistant journey.

How do I start using Proxmox on my Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

Before You Start

Connect to your Network: Plug your home or office network into the Ethernet port closest to the power supply. This port is configured to automatically request an IP address via DHCP.
Enable VM/Container Network Access: Configure your VMs or containers to use the vmbr0 Linux bridge for network access.
Secondary Ethernet Port: The second Ethernet port uses a static IP 192.168.68.1/24 and is linked to vmbr1. It does not offer DHCP and should be used for inter-host, inter-VM, or inter-container communication only.

First Boot Instructions

Connect a monitor and keyboard to your Pulcro TurnKey PC.
Power on the device. You'll see a Linux terminal login prompt.

Login Credentials: Login: root Default Password: Freedom123!

Security Tip: Immediately change the default password using the passwd command.

What Happens on First Boot

A demo Home Assistant virtual machine is installed automatically.
The assigned IP address will appear in the terminal.
Access the Proxmox web interface by visiting: https://YOUR_IP_ADDRESS:8006
Login with: Username: root Password: your updated or default password

Storage Configuration

Proxmox uses LVM thin provisioning for efficient storage.
Backup Notice: No default backup is installed.
Store backups on an external device or use Proxmox Backup Server.

Using the Pulcro.io Recovery Tool

If reimaging your device or reinstalling from a previous LVM-based OS (like Proxmox), you may need to run the Pulcro.io Recovery Tool twice due to storage layer resets requiring a reboot.

How do I set up my Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC for the first time?

Setting up the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC is easy. Connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse, plug in the power, and press the power button. The pre-installed software will guide you through any additional setup steps.

The default Linux username (apart from ‘root’) is: user.

The default password for both ‘user’ and ‘root’ accounts is: Freedom123!

Please change the default password upon first login!

The package includes a 12V DC power adapter, a 3ft Ethernet cable, and a VESA mounting kit for easy installation behind your monitor or desk.

How do I mount the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC to the back of my monitor?

Use the included VESA mounting kit to attach the Mini PC to the back of your monitor. Detailed instructions are included in the user manual specific to your Mini PC model.

What do I need to connect for the initial setup (keyboard, mouse, monitor)?

You'll need to connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. You can use USB peripherals and connect your display through HDMI or USB-C ports.

Does the device support multiple monitors?

Yes, the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC supports up to three monitors via its dual HDMI ports (or display ports - please refer to your manual) and USB-C DisplayPort.

Performance and Usage

What is the default username and password for my Mini PC?

For most Linux-based Pulcro TurnKey Mini PCs, the default root password is:

Username: root  
Password: Freedom123!

In some cases - such as with Windows® 11 - you may also find a secondary user:

Username: pulcro  
Password: Freedom123!

⚠️ Important: Certain operating systems like Home Assistant OS do not use a terminal login. Instead, you’ll set up a username and password through the browser during onboarding.

Security Reminder:
For your safety, we strongly recommend changing the default credentials during or immediately after setup - especially for devices exposed to the internet.

How can I set my device to turn on automatically after a power outage?

As each Pulcro.io Mini PC model is slightly different, please review the steps relevant to your model:

To configure your TurnKey QBE Mini PC to automatically power back on to the previous state after a power interruption, please follow these steps:

Turn on your Pulcro.io Mini PC and press F7 when the logo appears.
Select "Enter Setup" to access the BIOS.
Navigate to the "Boot" tab.
Locate "State after G3", press the spacebar, and set it to "S0 State".
Navigate to "Save & Exit", then select "Save Changes and Exit" to apply the settings.

After completing those steps, your Mini PC will now automatically restore to the last power state after a power loss.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage on the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

Absolutely - our mini PCs are designed with flexibility in mind.

RAM Upgrades

TurnKey One allows for an upgrade from the base 8 GB DDR4 RAM to up to 16 GB (add a compatible SODIMM module).
TurnKey Two takes this further, supporting upgrades all the way to 32 GB DDR4 RAM, ideal for heavier multitasking or multiple virtual machines.

Storage Upgrades

Both TurnKey One and TurnKey QBE support a single M.2 SSD expansion (up to 1 TB on TurnKey One; up to 2 TB on TurnKey QBE, depending on configuration).
TurnKey Two includes two M.2 NVMe enabled slots, enabling flexible storage configurations such as:
- Dual NVMe drives (each up to 2 TB), or
- One NVMe drive + one SATA SSD (both up to 2 TB)
  (For up to 4 TB total storage, split however you like.)

How do I reset my device to factory default settings?

Depending on your situation, there are three ways to reset your Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC:

1. BIOS Reset (when your device won’t boot properly)

If you’re not seeing a boot screen or suspect a BIOS issue:

Power off the device.
Use a fine-tip pen to press and hold the reset button near the power input for at least 5 seconds.
While holding, turn the device back on.
Once booted, you may need to reconfigure BIOS settings such as date, time, boot order, or any prior customizations.

2. Pulcro Fresh Start (Recovery) Tool

This tool resets your software to a clean factory installation (Home Assistant, Proxmox, FreePBX, or Windows).

It uses the built-in recovery partition, if available.
Best for scenarios where your system still boots into the recovery menu or USB.

3. Plan B USB Reimaging Tool (for tougher recovery scenarios)

Use this option if:

Your system won’t boot at all
The recovery partition is missing or corrupted
You’ve just replaced the hard drive

The USB Reimaging Tool is a USB-based reimaging solution that force-restores your Mini PC to factory software by communicating with our content distribution servers.

Requires downloading a special image and flashing it to a small USB drive
Ideal for hard drive replacements, corrupted partitions, or bootloader failures
You’ll need your Mini PC’s serial number handy

Warranty and Support

What is the warranty coverage for the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

All Pulcro TurnKey Mini PCs come with a 24‑month (2‑year) limited warranty, backed by U.S.-based assembly and support.

Software support, troubleshooting, or reconfiguration
Issues caused by third-party software or unsupported OS installs
Physical damage, misuse, or electrical surges

This warranty applies to all Pulcro TurnKey models, including units configured with Home Assistant OS, Proxmox, FreePBX, Windows 11, or No OS.

How do I contact customer support for issues with my Mini PC?

You can reach our Support Team via email at hello@pulcro.io. Please have your product’s serial number handy (located on the bottom of the device) to faster assist you. We're happy to help with any issues or questions.

What is your return policy?

We offer a thirty day return window starting on the day your item has shipped. To initiate a return, please contact us at hello@pulcro.io to obtain a CRA Number and further instructions. All returns are subject to our Returns Policy and a restocking fee may apply for non-defective related return.

What should I do if my Mini PC is defective or damaged?

Contact our Support Team immediately at hello@pulcro.io with the product’s serial number (conveniently located at the bottom of the device). If the defect is covered under warranty, we will arrange for a repair or replacement.

What does the warranty not cover?

While our 24-month limited hardware warranty covers most manufacturing defects, there are important exclusions:

Software support (setup assistance, configuration, OS reinstall, or updates)
Issues caused by third-party software or unsupported OS installations
User damage - including drops, spills, overvoltage, undervoltage, abuse or misuse
Power-related damage from unstable outlets or surge events
Normal wear and tear, including SSD lifespan, fan bearings and cosmetic wear
Unauthorized modifications, tampering, or repairs not performed by Pulcro.io
Shipping damage after delivery (unless reported immediately)

Yes, as long as it is an authorized reseller, your product is covered under the standard warranty.

How long is the warranty period for the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

The warranty period is 24 months from the date of shipping.

System Recovery and Troubleshooting

How do I perform a system recovery on the Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

To return your device to factory software settings, you’ll use one of Pulcro.io’s recovery tools. Here's how to do it:

🛠 Option 1 (Easiest): Pulcro Fresh Start (Recovery) Tool

Use this tool if your Mini PC still boots and has the recovery partition intact.

Connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse (temporarily).
Boot into the Pulcro recovery environment (either from the boot menu or preinstalled recovery launcher).
Follow the on-screen prompts to restore your Mini PC to factory settings.
This will erase your current OS and reinstall the original (Home Assistant OS, Proxmox, FreePBX, or Windows 11 Pro).

What is the difference between online and offline system recovery?

Offline Recovery: this process attempts to bring your Mini PC back using preinstalled recovery images located on a special section of your hard drive known as the recovery partition. After running an offline recovery, you will lose any data stored on your Mini PC and your Mini PC will be restored back to the way it was when you initially received it.

Online Recovery: during this recovery process, you will lose any data stored on your Mini PC. At the same time, your Mini PC will contact our servers to download the most up-to-date images relative to the operating system your device was initially shipped with, and the tool will reimage your Mini PC accordingly. As data will be streamed across the Internet, there may be data charges charged by your Internet provider. The Online Recovery tool can also assist in repurposing your device to a different compatible operating system via the Pulcro Management System (coming soon!).

What should I do if my recovery partition is corrupted?

If your Pulcro Mini PC’s recovery partition is missing or damaged, you can still reset your device using our USB Reimaging Tool.

This advanced tool is designed for exactly this scenario - and works even if:

The recovery partition has been deleted
The system fails to boot
You’ve replaced or reformatted the internal SSD

How can I restore the device to its factory settings?

To restore your Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC to its original factory software, you’ll use one of our dedicated recovery tools depending on your situation:

🛠 Option 1: Pulcro Fresh Start (Recovery) Tool

Use this if your system still boots and the recovery partition is intact.

Connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Boot into the Pulcro Recovery Environment from the boot menu or preinstalled launcher.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your device.
This will reinstall your original OS (Home Assistant, Proxmox, FreePBX, or Windows) from the included recovery partition.

🔄 Option 2: Plan B USB Reimaging Tool

Use this if the system won’t boot or the recovery partition is missing or corrupted.

Download the correct image based on your Mini PC model
Flash it to a USB drive (256MB or larger)
Boot your Mini PC from the USB
Follow the prompts to perform a full system reimage

How long does shipping take after I place an order?

Orders placed before 2PM (US Central Time) on a business day will be prioritized for same day shipment. Orders placed after 2PM (US Central Time) or on a non-business day will be shipped the following business day. We work Monday to Fridays, excluding any federal and state holidays.

Customization

Can I customize the configuration of my Pulcro TurnKey Mini PC?

We have a limited scope of customization services that we can perform, including custom labeling, custom overpacking and system configuration. To receive a quote, please contact our Sales Team at hello@pulcro.io outlining the requested customizations and quantities, as well as any other supporting documentation (such as a draft Statement of Work) that will help define the project’s scope.

How do I select the operating system for my Mini PC during purchase?

Once you have selected your desired Mini PC model, you will have a list of operating systems to choose from. Ensure you select the correct operating system and quantity before adding the Mini PC to your cart. If you wish to order the same model of Mini PC but with a different operating system, please add separate line entries for each flavor of system to your Cart.

Are there BIOS configuration options available for advanced users?

Yes! To enter the BIOS, press either F7 or F11 (depending on your Mini PC model) and select “Enter Setup”. Please note: severe and non-reversible damage may occur if you configure your BIOS incorrectly. Any damage arising from an incorrectly configured BIOS, including any attempts to overclock your device is not covered under warranty.

Can I request custom software pre-installation?

Certainly! We can handle almost all Linux distributions and can accommodate most Windows configurations, including providing OEM licenses, slipstreaming additional components into your deployment.
